Signs that may say you need "rehab".

First understand that most addictions are forms of a mental disease.

And in understanding this realize that as with a physical disease there are signs that when recognized are the key to beginning the proper treatment. And while for any physical disease you would seek and receive the proper treatment from a Hospital and a qualified Doctor.

The same is true for a mental disease in that treatment is available in a "rehab" facility by a qualified mental health specialist. Here are a few signs to look for and for a further evaluation use the link below this article for a more detailed and specific assessment of signs that could suggest you may need the help of a "rehab" center.

  • If you drink or use drugs more than 3 times a week. This alone without any other details could be a clear sign you probably have an addiction that may require "rehab".
  • If you use excuses to drink or use drugs. Some of the common of these would be, I had a bad day, they make me more open/less shy, I'm depressed, my team just won, I need a pick me up, they make me more productive, they make me feel good, etc,,,. The problem with using these kind of excuses to drink, use drugs or even have sex is that often it's not totally true and they are usually a sign of a more serious problem that is merely being covered up with addiction and not actually being treated. A "rehab" in these cases is critical in finding the real problem and getting proper treatment.
  • If you started drinking or using drugs for social events but more often use them alone. This is a very clear sign you have an addiction problem and if continued could lead to more serious problems, as often other things like depression, stress or anxiety become more intense. This is also a sign the addiction is gaining more control and a sign that you may truly need "rehab".
  • If you are spending money to drink or do drugs and not paying bills. Again this is a very clear sign you need "rehab" and often accompanies the above sign. Along with this would be missing work, losing jobs and or alienating friends and family members.

If you are at this point please follow the link below and do the assessment and follow it by calling the toll free number and talk with someone it is totally confidential. You are very important to those around you and please hear me when I say your problem is not beyond help. Stop living with regret today and most importantly get help to stop doing things you will regret tomorrow. Trust me there is a cure, you can change and "rehab" is not a bad word. If you see the signs all you need to do now is seek the treatment and a "rehab" center is where you can be cured.

There is a cure!

"Rehab" can stop the cycle!
"Rehab" can stop the cycle!
There is life after addiction.
There is life after addiction.

"Rehab" is not just for drinking and drugs.

While most of us are aware that things like drugs, alcohol, gambling and sex are things that can be serious addiction problems that might require a person to seek the assistance of a "rehab" facility. You should also understand that other problems such as depression, stress, anxiety, eating disorders and anger management are a few other things that "rehab" centers can offer assistance for.

The important thing in any of these cases is in recognizing you have a problem, realizing it may be beyond your control, reacting by seeking the assistance of a qualified "rehab" facility and taking the first step on the road to your recovery.

Below is a link for a series of self assessment tests that will help you to recognize if a "rehab" program is needed for your specific condition. If your test shows you might have a problem you need assistance for please use the phone number given and speak with someone. You are under no obligation but your wellness is the most important thing in your life and in the life of those who love you.

And remember you are not alone, and there is no shame in admitting you need help. There are many factors that are involved for the reasons of addiction many are no fault of your own. Addiction only becomes your fault when, in recognizing you have an addiction you then refuse the help available.

Understand addiction is often a mental disease and as with any other disease it can often be treated. Please for yourself and those who love you, take that step to your wellness today! And I pray you will be well!

Everybody needs help sometimes.

Thanks 2besure your comment, and congradulations on your 33 years, thats awesome!

And I'm about to hit 6 years in December, and its been some of the best years of my life I must say. It's hard to even think about how I thought I needed drugs and alcohol to live or have fun. When in fact it ruined so much of my life, lost me so many good jobs and good friends. Hmmm not so much fun after all.

I am just so thankful to the Lord Jesus Christ and his forgiveness and strength which helped me through it.

And to those people who stuck by me and counseled me as well. God is able to deliver, sometimes he does it through others such as in counselors, church members and friends.

The key is seeing our need for help, and then taking the first step in receiving the help we need.

I thank God for your recovery as well 2besure. And may his Grace and Mercy follow you all your days!
