Football Season must have Nacho Cheese Dip Recipe.

By

Not the same as most.

Wait before I start this or you leave thinking you already have this recipe trust me my few secrets will take this from just normal to absolutely addicting. Also before we go any further let me add this disclaimer: if you are on a diet or into health food this recipe is probably not for you!

So lets start with what you will need. The recipe I'll be giving is for about four people so if your having the gang over for the big game you'll want to at least double it.

Ingredients.

  • 1 lb Ground beef ( I prefer the 85/15 lean) and using this I do not drain the beef.
  • 1 16 oz jar of Salsa ( if you like hot like me use Hot Picante instead I've found the picante to be hotter than the hot salsa if you don't do hot use medium or mild)

  • A box of soft cheese like Velveeta ( I use and prefer whatever generic brand the store carries. I have found unlike they advertise Velveeta seems to separate more than the cheaper kind)
  • A packet of Taco Seasoning ( and this is one of the secrets I have not seen anyone else use)
  • A Family size bag of Nacho Cheese Doritos ( I love it cheesy needless to say and this is the other secret I don't see many do. If you do not like that much cheese use just regular tortilla chips)

See all 4 photos

Preperation.

Note: Some people use a double boiler system for this but I have found this to be a big mess, that the flavors don't blend as well and that in a good non stick skillet and with the method I use I have no problems with the cheese melting)

Start off by browning the ground beef in about a two quart non stick sauce pan. When done you can drain if you wish or if you used less lean beef. Then return in pan to stove and reduce to medium-low heat and add only about half the packet of taco seasoning  (I just add it dry without adding any water) and cook stirring in the seasoning for about two minutes giving the meat time to soak up the seasoning. Next pour in the whole jar of Picante or Salsa stirring as you add. Then with a cheese slicer or knife begin slicing about half inch slices of cheese and add each one as you go. Do this until you've added about half the block of cheese. And occasionally stir until cheese is melted and blended in.

Note: adding the picante/salsa first is a must for this recipe as it helps the cheese to melt. Once the cheese is melted all you need is some plates and soup size bowls and your chips.

If your preparing this ahead of time or to take to say a carry in at work simply pour it into a slow cooker and set it to low.

So there you go I started off making this like others without the taco seasoning or Doritos. But once I tried it this way it's the only way to go and everyone who's tried it agrees.

Oh yeah! I'll try that taco seasoning. I'm sure it will be a hit!(Try my salsa recipe found on my salsa hub!)

Yeah I think you'll love it bayoulady!

Oh and I did add a part I'm sure you might have figured this out but when I add the seasoning I stir it into the meat and let it cook a few minutes before I add anything else. I'm sure you understand about letting the meat soak in all the seasoning thats what keeps the chips dipping for more of this addicting goodness.

And I will check out that salsa recipe I'm sure it will make great use of my tomatoes, peppers and onions from the garden. I always need more ways to can and preserve the extras. Happy dipping I hope you enjoy!

Sounds awesome! I hope I have time for Football (oh my god, did I just capitalize the "F" like it's a denomination?), this season. I may have to find a new family if I don't keep up this year...starting with a new mom. She was a cheerleader and come autumn football is all she can talk about.

Thanks Fred, but remember I did place a disclaimer. And it might take more than 15 minutes but hey just a good reason to work out harder! Huh?

Well hope you enjoy and remember the bowl idea is so you can double dip as much as you want.

Peace to you Brother Fred.

Hey SJ, I'd say your off to a good start with the capital "F". You could always just check the topic section (for those times you cant watch) and see if someone hubbed about your(Moms) team. I never watched football with someone who was cheerleader I bet it gets a little interesting when a team scores and they pan across the back of the endzone. Your Mom would be catching all the cheering mistakes (oh girl put some energy in that cheer).

I know she probably would school me in the actuall game huh? Lol

Thanks for reading though SJ I truly appreciate all my wonderful hub family! Bless you!

Haha! My mom was only a cheerleader to be around football players. She's not really into cheers, or cheerleading, she just loves football. Growing up, and still today, my brother's friends call her more than him during football season. She's an odd bird, and last season I was a huge disappointment to her. If I don't start doing as you say, and at least looking up her team, (The Ravens), she will disown me. No one loves Football more than my mom, my dad can take it or leave it. All my brothers love it, but not like my mom, and yeah she could probably school you about it. I'm really into it when I'm into it, but I'm not committed every year. And hub family---cute. Good word, family truly is a very wonderful thing. Keep writing!
