This is what we keep hearing right.

Now before any of you Republicans start cheering and saying he's come around. Or before any of my free thinking friends start thinking he's lost his mind. Let me just tell you your both wrong.

What has happened to me though is after numerous debates I've had on here with certain stongent Republican supporters who post hubs stating this as fact. And use numerous deceptive links to often bias written articles, many of which offer different concepts of what, when, and who actually set in motion the events leading to the collapse. All while in most cases the point of their hub is targeted at the Democrats regaining the house and senate in 2006. And thus this prompted me to look more deeply into this concept a few months back.

And my intent was to write this hub at that time, but frustrations with the ugliness of the debate as well as other factors have put this on hold. But now I would like to share with those, who like me find this argument to be unfounded. As well as to shed some light for those who support, defend, and propogate it as fact. That based on my findings and considering what they say is fact of how awesome, powerful, controlling and just overall super human they are making these Democrats out to be.

So first let's look back into some history.

Since the very precept of this myth is about past history why stop at 2006 lets go back even further. And since your basis for the myth is, the Democrats having control of the house and senate, lets have a little study in that history.

Now I will only be looking back to 1993 and this for two reasons.

  1. As one of the links from one hub stating the economy was caused when the democrats took power in 2006 (a link which actually disproved the writer cj and the statement) was written by Karl Rove (no bias there) and pointed to 1992 and the change in the housing rules.
  2. Going back this far will set the stage for how impossible it would have been for this myth to be true.

Okay let's look at some history of the party in power, the following info is from this link: http://uspolitics.about.com/od/usgovernment/l/bl_party_division_2.htm

  • Year President House Senate
  • 1993 Clinton Dem Dem
  • 1995 Clinton Rep Rep
  • 1997 Clinton Rep Rep
  • 1999 Clinton Rep Rep
  • 2001 Bush Dem* Rep
  • 2003 Bush Rep Rep
  • 2005 Bush Rep Rep
  • 2007 Bush Dem Dem

* There were 50 Ds and 50 Rs until May 24, 2001, when Sen. James Jeffords (R-VT) switched to Independent status, effective June 6, 2001; he announced that he would caucus with the Democrats, giving the Democrats a one-seat advantage.

So here are a few points and the numbers that popped out to me.

  1. Clinton had 3 years, 1992-1995 at the start of his term in which the Dems Controlled the House and Senate. Thus in his last 5 years, 1995-2000 the Reps were what we term the party in power, having control of the House and Senate.
  2. Bush came into office in 2000 and had until as noted above a Rep House and Rep Senate until 2001 when the Senate was even until what amounts to June, 2001. Yet the Reps still maintained what we term as the party in power, having the President and control of the House.
  3. In 2003 the Reps took back control of the Senate and maintained control of the House, and thus the party in power was the Reps having control of the Presidency, The Senate, and the House.
  4. As opposed to Clinton, Bush enjoyed what amounts to 7 years of a Rep controlled House and 5 years of a Rep controlled Senate and House.
  5. So from 1995-2007 or what amounts to 12 years the Reps were what we would term as The Party in Power in having, control of 2 or more branches of our Government.

So to sum up.

So basically what one is saying in stating that it was when the Dems took control of the Senate and House in 2006 ( under a President with the power of a veto pen in hand) and then caused what almost became the fall as the economic world not just the United States. You would be saying that in 1 + years these Dems overturned and or destroyed 12 years of prior Republican policies and work, and all under a still Republican President with the power of veto.

And this my friend (if true) should leave us all standing in awe of the sheer power, might and majesty of these Dems. My what a miraculous feat of destruction, chaos and collapse they accomplished. I think this would also explain why Bush was so absent and silent during his last year. They must have used their super human powers to control him, or maybe they were secretly keeping him and Cheney drugged up and thus rendering them incoherent and lethargic that whole year.

Now if this doesn't get the point across of how ridiculous this theory is, I will point to the one undeniable factor that should prove to all Reps that this theory is not true. Here's a good link that explains what really caused the economic crisis. Ten steps to economic failure.

Bush or Cheney never said it!

I mean unless they are still being kept under mind control, or still secretly being drugged or maybe Christine O' Donnel had it wrong, it wasn't human brains being put into mice. They have replaced Bush and Cheney's brain with that of mice, thus leaving them two fully functioning humans with mice brains.

Uhm,,, no and you can not tell me if there was any truth to the concept that the Dems were the cause of the economic collapse. That Bush and Cheney would not be screaming it from the highest mountaintop, or at least be doing numerous interviews on the Fox Tabloid Network.

So this leaves me with only one thought about those who perpetually repeat this concept. I would suggest they may want to go get a CAT scan of their head. Hey if the Dems really have that much power which is what your saying, well the CAT scan is just something you might want to consider.

This is free speech???

This is shameful!
This is shameful!
and makes me sad!
and makes me sad!
This is even more shameful!
This is even more shameful!
And it makes me mad.
And it makes me mad.

Closing thoughts

I want to close this with a few statements for those of you who now have just presumed and or labeled me a Liberal or for that matter a Dem.

  • I am far from liberal.
  • I think abortion is murder, and even more so I can't understand why it seems so hard, for some to understand when life begins? To me it is very clear and simple, once an egg has been successfully fertilized a life has begun. Or in other terms once a fertilized egg which without any outside interference would become a child, a life has begun. And this just seems to make very basic sense to me.
  • I think trying to go further back than that in turn, would be like saying every man that ever masturbates is committing murder and every woman ever in the entire world has committed murder monthly from the time of puberty to menopause. Yeah it sounds silly to me to, I guess you would charge the women with egg neglect?? And I say this to say this is why I don't see a problem with stem cell research. And in fact if it could save life from researching it I say go for it, and by all means hurry up!
  • I firmly believe in separation of church and state, and even more believe in it both ways. Render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar's and unto God that which is God's. I hear many fellow Christians using the example of Christ turning over the money tables, in the Temple in defense of saying we should get involved in Government. This makes no sense to me, the Temple was the Place God designed and ordered built for people to worship and for sacrifice to Him. In turn we read nowhere of Christ going into the Romans places and doing this, and even to the tax collectors he simply stated exact no more than that owed not do not collect taxes. Here is a wonderful hub I read while I'm on taxes, Another way of thinking about taxes. I found this quite a refreshing and interesting read, please check it out!
  • I didn't particularly choose to be a Dem. I however in being a Christian believe sin is sin, and in saying this I mean Bush and McCain can stand up all day and tell me their Christians until their blue in the face, and I'm sorry I'm not buying it. Neither one of these men ever professed anything that I know of, their entire lives that said christian, until they were running for office. In fact Bush was a drinker and even a cocaine user and McCain has a past history of being pro choice. As well Bush and his staff during his Presidency were proven over and over, to be flat out lying to us the people. Maybe as a christian you think lying is okay, and to that I would say your being lied to. In fact lying is usually at the very base of all and any sin period there's pretty much a whole chapter of the Bible dedicated to this read James.
  • The people who now currently claim to be conservative and or Republicans have made me not want to have anything to do with with them period. And this for a few reasons, God does not hate fags, prostitutes, Muslims or even liberals in fact they are who Christ was crucified for. Ever read the scriptures " they that are whole (or healthy) have no need of a physician", or where the scribes and pharisees mocked Him saying, " This man receives publican's and sinner's and eats with them." If yes cool then stop being a scribe or pharisee your not doing anything by telling them God hates them and in fact your lying and (according to your theory) God hates you as well.

So I guess that's it and more in a nutshell, enjoy or get mad but above all stop lying, hating and trying to justify any of the crooks in our Government. Their all rats be honest with yourselves, well time for me to go I'm still trying to count those thousand points of light.

Bush administration lies.

Ok then lets have a short history lesson shall we?

Bush did have a veto plan but as most presidents wanted to reach both sides of teh aisle! (which I hate)her we go:

Dems took control of the Senate Jan3,2007. At that time the unemployment rate was 4.6% and the Dow Jones closed at 12,621.77 Previous quarter GDP was 3.5%

Bushes policies set a record of 52 straight months of job creation! Jan 3 2007 Chriss Dodd took over the senate banking committee and Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee! .........15 months later we had an economic meltdown!..........Where was that meltdown? You guessed it, Banking and Financial Services! and the root of the crisis lay in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac whose subprime lending was strongly defended by Dodd and Frank! .........That should be enough to get voters out for the Republican Party!

Thanks for your comment AR, and first let me respond to what we agree on. I agree with you on the hating the President wanting to reach across both sides of the aisle! And in fact I really think Obama could be accomplishing much more if he would stop doing it!

And as to the rest of your point, any article you read (though many point to many events, timelines, etc,) written by anyone knowledgeble in the financial industry contained warning signs of the collapse long before 2007. And you actually point one out the fact that the Dow was up is one in fact, no one would short sale with it down. As to the 52 months of job creation one thing I would be interested in knowing is how many of those jobs were war related. The time period would seem about right for when things in Iraq were under enough control for Haliburton to go full force on all the drilling contracts. As well as when many other private companies were obtaining war related Government contracts. Just a thought??

And finally your suggestions again would actually only seem to exagerate the point of my hub, in that you have now given the credit of overiding 12 years of Rep power to a mere 2 Dems. I'm thinking we need to really get out and vote for who Frank and Dodd are with they seem to have a powerful influence!

Again though AR I do respect your comments and your right to voice them. God Bless you AR!

Oh and congrats on making BobbiRants fav, list I know you were just thrilled!Lol

This is a great article pointing out many facts, which some do not care to understand, but they are there anyway. Well AR knows I do not dislike him, he has his beliefs and I have mine, he is a good writer. I like this hub.

Thank you AE for the wonderful comments. You just made my day better, and I'm glad we found each other as well.

As to Obama I totally understand your frustration, and I'm not sure where you live but I'm right here in the middle of good ole' boy land in Oklahoma. And I know most on here try to be politically correct about it, but a lot of these roughnecks around here just come right out with the true reason why they are so pissed he's President and we know what that is.

As well if you read between the lines of some on here you can see the true reason for their hatred. Which is why I guess it does know good to point out facts or the truth to them, because they really don't know or care about anything he has done.

I mean come on give the man a break what other President has come into office and had to start from the hole Bush and his goons left. And you are right on with Bush, I find his mere lack of action on anything his last two years just appalling. His attitude was like someone who had given their two weeks notice at a job they didn't care for. And I even have this gut feeling (though we would never find it out) that there was someone buying and selling stock interest for him and the goons under other names before the collapse.

Bless you AE!

BobbiRant I'm glad you dropped by, as you get to see some of the effect your hubs have had in bringing some of us together on HP. And I agree with your AR feelings I'm learning to like him as well, I'm sure he's really a wonderful person he just believes what he believes. In fact he kind of reminds me of my older brother who lives down there where you are, and whom I've had the same disputes with.

As Always though thank you BobbiRant for reading and for your comment. Be Blessed with God's best!

There will NEVER be a Messiah from Harvard. It will never happen. There will be NO savior from the Democratic party or the Republican party. Thank you Robert!

THE problem with American Romance is - ALL SATAN's MEN WALK ON WATER! THEY DON"T! AR will never be for humanity. He's a republican. A Democrat will be for humanity. The Democrat becomes a Republican after elected. AR will never be a patriot to humanity. He only sees the good in the GOP and the bad in the DOG (Democrats Oblige GOP). AR is a MOUTHPIECE of the GOP. He hates one party. I hate both parties and love a lot of the people misled in both.

Hey Micky thanks for the read and for your comment. And your Messiah point is right on, in fact thats what I don't get from some of these stongent conservitaves???

You know kind of like how we see them touting the abortion issue every election all as a mere ploy to get the unlearned, uninterested christians to simply vote on that basis. All when what we've had 8 years of Reagon, a total of 12 years in both Bush's, CHRISTIANS THATS 20 YEARS OF YOUR PRO LIFE VOTE, uhm correct me if I'm wrong here Micky, but I think nothing has changed about abortion. Nor will it because what they don't get is it has nothing to do with the President. When they sat back silently when Nixon (Republican) nominated the judge that authored, roe v. wade and when the supreme court began it's, unconstitutional place in controlling us is when they let it become a legal issue.

I myself wish the President, the Senate or the House would put the Supreme Court back in check, but do I see any evidence of it??? Uhm,, NO!

Also your point about AR brought up a thought I had a few day's ago, when I heard a statement made about the Tea party forming in Feb, of 2008. And my thought was this just proves what I allready hear all these, roughnecks saying. They were just so urinated off (to borrow a term from you) that a negro (excuse the bluntness and not my words) was in charge of their white America. They can sugar coat it all they want, but he hadn't even had a chance to start any policies, before they made plans to rebel. They made their plans in 11/2007 in fact. I since have my doubts about the whole change thing, but only after the facts.

Oops I'm starting to go on like BobbiRant now! But hey maybe it makes me feel better. Or not, but we can all hope for the mediocre at least! Ha,

Yes, it's true. There is no Messiah in politics. I railed on Bush via Letters to the Editor at the STL Post-Dispatch. I think highly of Obama as a person and voted for him, but the Post is publishing a letter I wrote after seeing his dismay and defeated demeanor following the recent republican elections. Although I understand that the economic downturn did not happen in a day, and patience is required to fix the issues, the time for verbiage is over. It is hard to be patient when your family is hungry. Thank you for your informative, intriguing and necessary read.
